Murphy Gives Dan Burton "Double Bogey" on Record
With less than a week until the Indiana primary, Mike Murphy presented Dan Burton with a retirement gift and an evaluation of his record on issues important to Fifth District voters. The retirement gift included a book titled "Golf's Best New Destinations" with a one-way plane ticket for Dan Burton to California on January 2, 2011. While using a touch of humor in his presentation, Murphy recognized gravity.
As a member of Indiana's General Assembly, Mike Murphy has fought to eliminate the inheritance tax, deregulate the telecommunications industry, and pass groundbreaking energy legislation to create jobs in Indiana. Murphy has also laid out a roadmap to creating jobs, called the "Murphy Plan", in a 70 page series of policy proposals on major topics including Energy, Healthcare, Agriculture, Defense, Education, and Jobs.

Mike Murphy releases complete Murphy Plan
State Representative Mike Murphy, candidate for Indiana's 5th U.S. Congressional District, has released the comprehensive 'Murphy Plan,' a series of substantive policy proposals. The plan is based on Murphy’s 15 years of solving problems for Hoosiers and on the expertise of some of our state’s most talented thinkers, including former Lt. Governor John Mutz, who joined Murphy at the State House for an announcement about the release.
The nearly 70-page plan is the strongest statement by any Indiana congressional candidate to frame critical steps to put Hoosiers back to work through a series of initiatives in critical sectors of our national economy. The “Murphy Plan” includes sections on Agriculture, Defense, Education, Energy, Health Care, and Jobs. Each honors the principles of free markets, less government, lower taxes, and personal responsibility.
